Keeping with tradition, the Smok Alien is a continuation of the “cube” design that Smoktech has been enamored with in the past few years. ( Yes I’m looking at you X Cube and H-Priv!)
So, the side fire button is till there, however, we now have plastic instead of metal. It’s also not as sturdy as it could be, with users seeming to be annoyed by the slight wobble of the button when slightly pressed. It doesn’t move if you shake it, however. As long as you don’t have sticky fingers, I’m guessing you should be good.
Another gripe with Smok’s Alien is that 25mm tanks don’t sit exactly flush with it, but this shouldn’t be a problem just yet as the majority of people would likely use 22 and 24mm tanks anyway.
And there you have it, the two “major” problems that you will have with this mod. Really. It’s a hell of a mod and the geek in me is just obsessed by that beautiful OLED screen. So much data! Never before! You can change wattage in temp mode, what? PCB temperature? Really? This is amazing. And I don’t say this lightly. Speaking of, the box is really light compared to similar 2 x 18650 mods. This one is an all-rounder!
Note: If you have an early Smok Alien box, please make sure to update the firmware (yes, that’s available) at the link here. If you had any misfires before, they should be gone now.
